Health Care Is a Retirement Income Decision

For many families, health care becomes one of the largest expenses in retirement, and one of the least planned for. When these costs are considered early, they become one more part of the plan rather than a disruption to it.

I want to know that a health event will not undo what we have spent a lifetime building, or become a burden on our children.

What We Help You Plan For

  • Coverage Before Medicare

When you retire before age 65, we help you plan how coverage will be paid for until Medicare begins.

  • Medicare Premiums and Your Income

Your income in one year can raise your Medicare premiums two years later. We plan withdrawals and Roth conversions with those thresholds in view.

  • Health Care in Your Income Plan

We build expected premiums and out-of-pocket costs into your retirement income plan, and revisit them as costs change.

  • Long-Term Care

We help you weigh the ways families prepare for extended care (setting assets aside, long-term care insurance, or life insurance and annuity strategies with long-term care benefits) and what each would mean for your spouse and your legacy.

  • Health Savings Accounts

For clients who are still working, we look at how a health savings account can be used for health care costs in retirement.

  • Caring for a Parent or Spouse

When a family member needs care, we help you see what support is affordable without putting your own retirement at risk.

How Insurance Fits

Insurance is one of several ways to prepare for long-term care, and it is not right for every family. When an insurance strategy is part of our recommendation, we explain why we recommend it, what it costs, how we are compensated, and what your alternatives are.

5-Step Framework

Where clarity meets confidence. Where your story shapes your strategy.

We believe retirement planning should feel structured, simple, and aligned with the life you want, not overwhelming.

  1. Step 1

    Understand Your Picture

We start by reviewing what matters most: your family, lifestyle goals, timeline, existing accounts, and the financial decisions ahead.

  2. Step 2

    Define Your Goals

We clarify what you want retirement to look like, and what needs to happen to make it sustainable.

  3. Step 3

    Analyze & Design

We identify gaps, risks, and opportunities, then build a retirement strategy that addresses income, taxes, and long-term planning.

  4. Step 4

    Implement Your Plan

Once the plan is clear, we help you put it into action, with structured decisions and ongoing guidance.

  5. Step 5

    Monitor & Refine

Retirement is not a one-time event. Your plan evolves as markets change and life evolves, so we refine it with ongoing reviews.

Frequently Asked Questions

We believe confidence comes from clarity. Here are the questions clients ask most before starting their wealth journey with us.

Have Questions?
When should we start planning for health care costs?

Ideally five to ten years before retirement, when more options are available. Planning is still useful at any stage, including after you have enrolled in Medicare.

Do we need long-term care insurance?

Not necessarily. Some families set assets aside, others use insurance, and many use a combination. We help you compare the options against your own resources, health, and family situation before you decide.

How does my income affect what I pay for Medicare?

Medicare Part B and Part D premiums rise at higher income levels, based on your tax return from two years earlier. For that reason, decisions such as a Roth conversion or the sale of an asset are planned with Medicare premiums in mind.

Can you work with our attorney and CPA?

Yes. Health care planning often touches estate documents and taxes, and the plan is stronger when those professionals are coordinated.

What is the minimum to become a client?

Most of our clients have $500,000 or more in investable assets. That lets us give each relationship the depth of planning and personal attention it deserves. If you are not sure whether we are the right fit, start a conversation anyway.

Bring Health Care Into Your Plan

A short conversation is the first step. We will listen, answer your questions, and outline what planning could look like for your family.
